Tattoo Art

Post by Lilien on Tue Mar 19, 2013 7:47 am

Many people today have tattoos. I am one of them. I have a Labris tattooed on my back, just bellow my neck. This year I plan to add one more tattoo. For some people having a tattoo is simply decoration for their body, some people wear them as a tribute to something, some to show their opinions and ideas.

I have a lot of friends with tattoos and even one friend who is a tattoo artists (I didn't do my tattoo with him) and sometimes I see some really amazing stuff, but yet sometimes I completely get amazed by stupidity of some. I love tattoos with black ink or maybe a bit of red mixed in black note. I find all those artistic paint tattoos very fascinating to make on skin, I applaud to the artist who made it, but I don't find them at least appealing on human body.

In this thread we could share our opinions about Tattoos, likes - dislikes, and some nicely or badly made tattoo images.

Here is one of the tattoos which is done masterfully, but yet for me it's so un-natural on body.

Here is one which I actually like, but these kind of tattoos are not for everybody and not everyone can wear every kind of tattoo. For musician this tattoo is completely suitable. IMO

This one I really love. It says The top circle says: The man who is constantly in fear is every day condemned. The middle: Men will believe what they wish The bottom: Truth conquers all - Where there is doubt there is freedom.

I like this one, it's not really for me, but I think it's really good on the person who is wearing it.

And here is one that is completely unnecessary in my opinion, very badly done and not at all interesting. In my opinion.

I confess I don't understand tattoos (the motivation, not the content). My tastes change too often to be stuck with something that permanent. Maybe that's why so many people put them on their back--you don't have to look at it. Smile

I understand body piercing even less (beyond ears, and even then when there's more than a couple per ear).

Well, I have Labrys which is one of the LGBT symbols and I plan to add a letter A and S on ... I don't know how do you call that place, but it is similar position like this http://www.tattoovisit.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Wrist-Hand-Tattoos.jpg except it is completely on the side of my arm wrist. I hope that makes sense.

As you see my tattoos have meaning, which are unlikely to change.

I like simple tatoos. I do not like, or find attractive, tatoos that take up large spaces on the body. I find them too distracting.

I would love to get one, but my lovely lady has put her foot down, so I will enjoy from a distance.

You know those tattoos that go all down the arms? I find those good looking on certain people. I have a lot of friends musicians who have these kind of tattoos. Making tattoos like these takes time. Sometimes even up to couple of months or a full year. I would never do something like that for myself, I love small ones on specific places with meaning. When I made my first tattoo I never thought of filling my body full of tattoos, but I do plan another 2-3 small tattoos, one that I mentioned above and one small down on my leg.

I don't like when my tattoos are constantly visible, I put them on places where I can be able to control the visibility.

Here is the example of tattoo which I find completely pointless and stupid. With all due respect to the artist and the ''owner'' of tattoo.

Also, I love to think of the future, even thought I consider people being old as their heart. There are moments in our lives when its simply not suitable having some kind of tattoos on some kind of places. Or sometimes our jobs don't allows that.

Btw, my Lady wants to stay Tattoo free. She doesn't mind me putting a new tattoo as long as I don't come tattooed with Hello Titty over my forehead. But I always ask her what does she thinks about a new tattoo and about the place and meaning. If she would mind, I would not do it.

It would be cool for a teacher to have eyes tattooed on the back of her head or neck! Freak out those little monsters.

Yeah, but said teacher probably has a significant other at home who will also be freaked out by them.

When I was younger I was thinking about a tatoo. But I never found something which I wanted to keep on my body for the rest of my life.

And nowadays where almost everybody has one I thought I gonna make a statement with staying tatoo-free.

I do like Lily's tatoo. One day when she is not suspecting I will make a picture and post it here...

Re: Tattoo Art

Post by Dyb on Tue Apr 02, 2013 7:54 pm

I've got two tattoos so far. One is tribal-style dolphin on my ankle filled in with the pride rainbow, that I got when I first "came out," and the other is a celtic sisterhood clan knot on my left wrist. My older sister Dina, my twin Dawn and I all got the same tattoo together on Dawn and my 40th birthday this past September. Smile
Later this year, my daughter Taylor wants to get her first tattoo, and I've agreed to go with her and get one at the same time. We're both planning on getting owls, although mine will be very small, monochromatic, and on the inside of my right wrist.

Some interesting photomanipulations. How would some famous people look like if covered in tatoos.

Wow, very cool. I don't really like full on tatoos, but they looked nice.

I liked Jackie Kennedy. But that didn't look like Sharon Stone to me. I don't really like full tats like that. Especially if they are scenes. They get interrupted by clothing. Plus, they are distracting. These, because they were added, could be designed to show just right. A face peeking out of a sleeve, for example. Interesting, though.
