Sex or No Sex

Post by Deej on Tue Mar 25, 2014 11:08 am

I have a serious question for all of you. Should a lesbian book be written that contains no sex? This is a serious question, so don't laugh.

I'm working on my next book, yes, the muse is with me and won't leave me alone. LOL LOL LOL Frankly, I'm thrilled, but I'm having a hard time justifying sex scenes in this story? All opinions are welcome and whether you agree with one another or not, your opinion is still correct for you. So please share.

Thank you in advance.

If sex scenes aren't justified in the story, don't use them. You can have plenty of emotional impact without explicit sex.

Oh, and glad your muse is keeping you busy!  OK (And out of trouble.)

I agree with what Sacchi said, as well. If it doesn't fit in it don't use it.

Every scene has a purpose -- to move the story forward. Gratuitous sex scenes are for a different effect: Like "Plot? What plot?" stories, for example.

Is your novel a romance? If so, then is there a reader expectation for intimate sex scenes?
