Women's Week in Provincetown

Post by Sacchi on Thu Aug 15, 2013 12:22 pm

Anyone here thinking of going? I'll probably be there for just a couple of days. I've signed up for a reading at the GCLS event, just a five-minute slot, but they seem to be having trouble filling all the slots so far this year, so maybe we readers will get more time. Better yet, some of you writers might sign up too. You can do either readings or writer chats. Have to join GCLS first. If I get around to arranging it in time, I may do a signing at WomanCraft, too.

Alas, I can't make it this year. I'm about to buy a house and am teaching two art classes that start up that week. I am editing a new novel so, hopefully, I'll see you all next year . . .

Have a blast Very Happy

GCLS is having trouble filling all their reading slots. It seems to me that the best solution would be to re-group us and give us each more than 5 minutes to read. I'm currently all alone in the Friday morning group, and Dalia Craig is alone in another one, while the other two time slots are filled. Anybody want to switch to Friday morning with me? Not that I couldn't manage reading for the full half hour by myself, but there wouldn't be any audience.

That would be great, Deej. We could suggest that they divide up the time slots according to how many readers there are, so that folks get a little more time. I'll bet several people would shift. Of course they may get more people signed up after all. I'll write if I can figure out who's the right one to approach.

I just wrote to Mary Lou. And my friend Sally Bellerose has now signed up in that slot. The three of us with ten minutes each would make a great show.

How about letting authors read on both days? I plan to hit as many as I can. I think it's great GCLS is doing this.

Elaine, you could read, too. You read with us a few years ago.

Deej, I haven't heard back from Mary Lou yet. I expect you need to contact her about shifting; I don't think she'll do it just on my say-so.

No reason you can't read the same thing, from BLR. If a few people are there who heard it before, they won't mind. A couple of people, I can't remember who, commented to me very favorably about your reading.

You could read from Wishbone. Give the audience something to look forward too. OK

To tell the truth, one of them complimented your story, not specifically your reading. She said it was her favorite of the lot.

Hell, with my reading. If they like the story, that's better!

They need to know who you are so they'll look for your future stories. Belly up to the bar E, and put in for a reading. OK
