Not to be cranky (okay, okay I'm going to be cranky here), but there is no Young Adult Category in the GLCS. I've asked and prodded and poked them to consider including a YA category, but keep getting put off with comments like "we'll look into it," or "there doesn't seem to be a need," Unbelivable or "there are no YA lesbian books"! Tumbsdown That last one makes me choke rant , 'cuz, uh, I'm a YA writer of lesbian fiction and put out at least one book each year. One time I even compiled a list of all the lesbian YA books published for three years running, but apparently there still was no interest from the GCLS Board. FRUSTRATED, I gave up. But then I got mad again. I try, get nowhere, and give up. Then I get mad and... Mad Mad rant rant

You're not the only one Barb. There was a big discussion over on Lesfic Unbound regarding this. And you're not the only YA author of Lesfic, so what gives. Just one more example of Patty screwing things up because she can.

I just don't get it. I know that at least two of the GCLS Board Members are associated with Regal Crest (my publisher) and they still won't budge. Is YA Lesbian Fiction simply not on their radar? (I think not No ) Are they afraid of cronyism? (They don't know I'm alive, frankly -- starting to feel that way in many aspects of my life, but that's another thread for another time). Are they {fill-in-the-blank}.

Thanks for letting me have my say!

That is stupid. Especially young gays and lesbians need heroes they can identify with. Unbelivable
